Because I’m Forty-One…

And I can kiiiickkk…and I can streeetttch….And I’m 41!!  Yes, today is my birthday, so you should at least read today’s post to see what a 41 year old has to say – have some respect for your elders! 🙂  I have been working on this blog since I bought the domain name in May. And when I say “working” I mean, I opened up my laptop a couple times, played around with some templates and then closed my laptop until last Saturday. I wish I could say that I’m “too busy” with kids and a demanding executive level job, but I don’t have kids and while my job is demanding travel wise (about 50%), I’m definitely no executive.

I am however, the CEO of my own life, which means I’ve made a lot of decisions over the years; good, bad, and cringeworthy. In order to organize those decisions (otherwise known as the ramblings in my brain) I use lists. I love lists for many reasons, but mainly because because they’re Tweetstorm adjacent, without having to do it in 140 characters per bullet.  So here are some of the things you might stumble across if you continue to read this blog:

  • I’m a libra, so I’m all about balance in a completely unintentional and obsessive compulsive way. I want to try everything and do nothing at the same time.
  • I love to travel, but sometimes it brings out the worst in me because I have no patience for “novice” travelers (although I am working on that –hello meditation and yoga).
  • I love the endorphin high from working out, but I also love eating a huge cheeseburger and fries with a bottle of red wine. Yes, I said bottle. Librans are indecisive little emm-effers and once we finally commit to a decision, we go all in.
  • I am really good at reading useless information about fashion, food, fitness, travel and technology from about 20 different magazines (if you like magazines, try the Texture app!).
  • I can remember just enough to be able to quote (or occasionally mis-quote) a useful tidbit, but not enough to remember the source if someone wants more information. If I share something in this blog, I will be sure to provide accurate information.
  • I love being a consumer (aka I collect jank, per my husband), but I also think it brings a responsibility to move toward choosing more sustainable fashion and beauty products.
  • Sometimes “free gift with purchase” takes over my desire to be eco-conscious.
  • I was abandoned by my birth mother in Seoul, Korea and was in an orphanage for a few months and then moved to a foster home.
  • At 7 months old, I was adopted by a lovely Caucasian family in rural Wood Lake, MN (population 500).  My family is like any other, with its flaws and frays, but they were cool enough to keep my biological name Moon Sun, as my middle name; hence the name of this blog.

You didn’t see that last one coming, did ya?  I didn’t lead with this tidbit, only because I don’t think being adopted by white people defines me, but I’m still trying to figure that out. So if you’re interested in coming along for the journey, I’d love to have you!

I love this too! Do you allow guests to post, or possibly share links etc? Is your blog acceptable for my 1 year old fish to read?

And lastly, I’m a little uncomfortable with the word Caucasian. Could you maybe say European American, or person of lack of color? I think it would make me and my fish more comfortable.

Other than those tiny little things…I am TOTALLY looking forward to seeing how your life in your 40th decade will play out!! Very cool !!

You are more than welcome to be a guest blogger! Just let me know what you want to share! And I’m not 100%, but I don’t think your fish will be too offended. Altho, as his father, I assume you are raising him with a conservative hand, so TBD…

Thanks so much for the comment!
